The Ford Government is investing $63,800 to help fire services in Oxford County deal with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
OXFORD COUNTY - Fire services in Oxford County will receive a combined total of $63,800 in provincial funding in order to help address the impacts of COVID-19. You can find the full breakdown below;
Woodstock - $14,600
Tillsonburg - $8,500
Ingersoll - $7,700
Norwich - $7,300
Zorra - $6,600
Blandford-Blenheim - $6,400
South-West Oxford - $6,400
East Zorra-Tavistock - $6,300
This is all part of a $5-million investment from the Ford Government. The funding is supposed to enhance fire safety training and support safety inspection programs. It's also going to support high-speed internet which will help greatly with virtual training.
Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman says it's important to support local fire services during these tough times.
"As a former Fire Captain, I know how important it is to follow and stay compliant with the Ontario Fire Code. This new investment by our government will enhance fire safety in Oxford by providing the technology and equipment needed to support training and fire inspections during these unprecedented times."
