Woodstock City council received a request from the Woodstock BIA at Thursday's virtual meeting, asking for the extensions of both the time and the length of the program. They supported the request unanimously, so now spots on Dundas Street and in some municipal lots have three hours of free parking.
WOODSTOCK - The holiday season has arrived early in Woodstock’s downtown core as the allowable time to park for free has jumped from from two hours to three hours.
Council received a request from the Woodstock BIA at Thursday's virtual meeting, asking for the extensions of both the time and the length of the program.
Mayor Trevor Birtch said council was trying to help the merchants by agreeing to a request from the BIA.
They supported the request unanimously, so now spots on Dundas and in some municipal lots have three hours of free parking.
Mayor Birtch also noted that the BIA had decided they did not want Dundas Street closed. The feelings of the membership was that it was not worth their while, especially if they were not allowed entertainment.
