Linda Fulton files for reelection to Ward 1 council in East Zorra Tavistock
Tavistock resident Linda Fulton is looking for another four years on council.
The current East Zorra Tavistock Ward 1 councillor has filed her papers for reelection.
Fulton says she brings a fresh outlook to the position.
"I grew up on a farm just south of Tavistock so I do have an agricultural background which most of our area is agricultural. From a business stand point I've worked in administration and sales, various committees over the years, things with minor hockey and things like that."
She says she has enjoyed the past three years on council and hopes to extend her time representing the municipality.
"I think now I have a better understand how things do work and the policies and procedures with planning committees, various things like that, just getting to know how everything works. That takes quite a bit of time to understand how everything works."
Fulton says the big issue over the next four years is dealing with decreased budgets.
"The provincial government has done some claw backs which starts us off with a smaller budget so we are going to have many challenges trying to get our budget balanced without increasing taxes too much. Policing costs are increasing as well."
Ongoing issues with drainage and wastewater management will also be big priorities Fulton sees in the next four years.
There are two Ward 1 council positions up for grabs.
Fulton is the first to apply.
