Royal Bank of Canada donates to the Ingersoll Fusion Centre once again

After school programming in Ingersoll will continue to make an impact in the lives of the town's youth, thanks to another donation.

Royal Bank of Canada completed their 2-year funding of the Fusion Centre with another $34,000 donation today.

It comes from RBC's After School Grants Project.  Royal Bank's Regional Manager of Donations, Jennifer Santamaria tells Heart FM it's a cause they strongly believe in.  "In 2013 we have issued over $2-million in After School Grants.  So our $34,000 donation this year to Fusion will help the program will help the kids and give them a safe play to stay and play."

Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey says RBC recognizes the impact the Fusion Centre is having on the town.  "They (youth) are keeping busy, they are keeping active.  Certainly that is reflective all the way through with marks from school, our police reports and everything else.  It's something that society needs to put forward, to have it's youth active, to have them participate."

Youth Centre Manager Jason Smith says the money is used across all programs at Fusion.  "Alongside of our recreation programs, it goes to our technology programs to keep up on current trends in software.  Our art program from a supplies standpoint takes a fair amount of funding.  But we partner with many organizations like RBC to be able to provide those dollars."

Smith says 54% of Fusion's annual funding comes from donations and grants.  The operating budget for the Youth Centre comes in close to $1-million.
