The Giant Tiger store in Woodstock is donating $3,000 to Operation Sharing's Christmas Place, the Power of Hope and Children's Aid Society.
WOODSTOCK - The Giant Tiger store in Woodstock is donating over $3,000 to the new team that formed this Christmas, the Children Aid's Society, Power of Hope and Operation Sharing's Christmas Place.
Owner of the Giant Tiger Bob Armstrong will be presenting the groups with the cheque this afternoon. Director of Christmas Place Cathy Gilverson says they rely on donations like this from the community to stay operational.
"We rely 100 percent on donations from the community at Christmas Place and we always have had such a great reception from Oxford County, whenever they know their is a need, people step up to the plate, because through businesses, churches, individuals, organizations, social agencies, that is where most of our donations come from."
The money will be split three ways for each organization. Gilverson says they can really use the money at Christmas Place.
"We will put that money aside and buy throughout the year when they put items out on sale for the Christmas Place, Power of Hope does the same thing when they purchase, pyjamas and slippers and socks, underwear and things like that to make up packages for all of the shoppers who come through Christmas Place also and that's all by donation."
