The Tillsonburg Hurricanes will play their home opener against Lincoln on Friday night.
TILLSONBURG - The Tillsonburg Hurricanes are excited to take the ice for their home opener at the Community Centre.
They will take on Lincoln tomorrow night at 8:30 pm for the first Junior A GMHL hockey game for the town. The Hurricanes have played their first 5 games on the road and already have 2 wins on the young season. GM and Owner of the team Ian Ellis tells Heart FM the hockey has been great so far and your going to see a lot of goals.
"The league has really tried to ensure the game is more exciting and the way the rules are, with the powerplays and everything it is going to produce more goals and make the games more exciting, we have already seen a few games this year where the score was 13-8 and we have had some tighter ones like recently a 5-4 overtime victory."
Ellis says they are really counting on the home crowd support tomorrow night as they try to even up their record. He tells Heart FM the guys are really pumped to play in front of their home crowd for the first time after starting the season on the road.
"The boys have anticipated this day for the last 6 weeks, they are extremely excited, to have them come out to Memorial, get a feel for the ice, get a feel for the surroundings and how exciting the environment is going to be this Friday, they are ecstatic."
