Over 30 exhibitors will pack Goff Gym for the senior active living fair on Monday.
WOODSTOCK - The 8th annual Best U Health Expo is back for another year in Woodstock, but it's going to be at a new location.
The senior active living fair will be taking place at Goff Gym from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Monday March 10th.
There will be over 30 exhibitors in attendance, all focusing on the physical and mental health of people over 50-years-old. Coordinator Nancy LaPlante tells us about an exhibitor from the Woodstock Hospital.
"If you don't have a doctor, and we all know its really hard to find one, we do have an exhibitor from the Woodstock Hospital there and it's the Oxford Ontario Health Team. They will have the knowledge to redirect you not just for a General Practitioner, but for any other health care that you want."
There will also be booths set up for local retirement homes, respite care, and organizations that can help you downsize and declutter.
There are three presentations lined up for the day. One will be able handling grief and the loss of a loved one, one will focus on bank fraud, and the third will teach people how to advocate for themselves in an overburdened health care system.
Admission is free and Angela Hess, the Program and Volunteer Coordinator for South Gate Centre, says anyone can attend.
"This is an excellent opportunity for those who are planning for their parents or looking for themselves to come out, take a look, and get a better idea of what's available."
There will be free snacks on site, but you'll have to pay $10 if you want to enjoy a healthy lunch.
The Best U Health Expo is hosted by South Gate Centre in partnership with the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario and the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility.
Nancy LaPlante and Angela Hess stopped by the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Thursday March 6th. You can listen to the full interview below:
