The Sakura House in Woodstock is all smiles today after getting a cheque for $2,400.

WOODSTOCK - The Sakura House in Woodstock is all smiles today after getting a cheque for $2,400.

The Money was raised on Fathers Day at the Sally Creek Golf Course where the held a silent auction and a charity BBQ. Manger of Golf Operations Jason Riddell raised the majority of the funds by accepting pledges to golf 100 holes. He actually managed to finish 108 holes after playing for nearly 16 hours. He tells Heart FM why he wanted to raise funds for the Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock. "My grandmother was here at the Sakura house a few years back and my family has always been a big supporter of Sakura house, and with the work I've been in the last few years I haven't been able to do the hike, so as a manager of a golf course I thought I would use that to my advantage and I thought I would try to something a little bit different to raise money for Sakura House.

Fund Development Coordinator with VON Oxford Kyra McNamara tells Heart FM they can't Jason enough. " Jason when he is doing an event like this is also being an advocate for the care we offer here at the hospice and he's sharing what we do with a whole section of the county that we might not be able to reach and it is really important for us to have the community know what we are doing." She says the funds donated at Sally Creek will go towards their annual fundraising campaign where they are trying to raise $500,000 this year. Sakura house provides end of life care, specialized palliative care for adults who are at the end of life.
