Police have released the name of the young man who died in a fatal collision in Zorra Township on Saturday night.
Police have identified the driver in a fatal crash on 19th Line in Zorra Township.
21 year old Ty Waller of Ingersoll died in the crash on Saturday night. He was driving when his vehicle went off the road, hitting a hydro pole and then collided with a tree. Three people were in the car at the time of the collision. The two passengers suffered non life threatening injuries.
Oxford EMS and the Zorra Fire Department were called in to extricate both the driver and front seat passenger of the car. Waller will have a funeral service this Saturday, with visitations scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Speed and alcohol are being considered as contributing factors in the collision.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says young people need to understand they are not invincible.
"I need to put a reminder out to all young drivers, you are not invincible, please do not speed, wear you seat belt, do not drink or have any drugs in your system. We have been seeing to many collisions recently where people are speeding. Once you add speed to an already risky driving behaviour, I can tell you that is a recipe for disaster and nine times out of ten, we are knocking on someone's door to tell them a loved one is deceased. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that was impacted by these two collisions in our community over the last couple of weeks and I can tell you, it's never easy for the police to knock on someone's door to tell them a loved one is deceased."
This is the second fatal collision in Zorra Township in the past two weeks. 17 year old Tyler Arts died in a single vehicle collision earlier this month.
