A resident of Tillsonburg is out $6,300 after falling victim to a grandparent scam.
TILLSONBURG - The Oxford OPP is investigating after a grandparent scam hit Tillsonburg.
Police were made aware of the incident on December 6th, while it was said to have happened on the 5th at 2 p.m. A Tillsonburg resident was called by someone claiming to be their grandchild who was in need of bail money. The victim thought they were talking to someone from the police and agreed to pay. At that time an unknown person came to the victim's house and at that time they handed over $6,300 in cash.
The suspect is described as close to 6 feet, 25 to 35 years old with black hair and was last seen wearing black clothes.
Police continue to investigate and if you have any information that can help, you are asked to call the Oxford OPP or Crime Stoppers.
