How far would you walk for a loved one? One Ontario grandfather is trekking 500-kilometres for his grandson in an effort to raise funds for a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Bob Facca brings his "Grandpa Walk" into Oxford County this long weekend. He arrives in Tavistock today, and will walk down Highway 59 into Woodstock on Saturday. They're expected to arrive at the corner of Vansittart Ave. and Dundas St. by mid-afternoon. From there, they'll carry on to Ingersoll, Tillsonburg, Aylmer, St. Thomas and Strathroy before wrapping up in London on Wednesday. He tells Heart FM the response on his walk has been miraculous. "The walk has been going tremendous. I can't express how wonderful people have been. People are pulling off the road...they go past you, come back and make donations. I can't say enough about how people have responded." Facca's walk has generated over 100-thousand dollars for the Jesse's Journey foundation. Facca's 4-year-old grandson Louie has Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
