Oxford MPP Ernie Hardeman knows what its like to battle a landfill. Hardeman, a longtime Salford resident, says he remembers the proposal for the Salford landfill many years ago. Hardeman is telling those battling the Walker Landfill proposal in 2012 to speak up and let the company know their concerns. Because Hardeman says if they can't address them...there is no proposal, "if the company can't address those concerns, obviously the landfill shouldn't go further. And obviously that's why I totally support the community and their efforts to get their message out and to express their concerns, not only publicly, but to the company directly". However, Hardeman avoided answering the question of whether he supports or disapproves the idea of a dump in Beachville.
