Starting today, kids between the ages of 12-17 will be eligible for the Moderna vaccine in Canada.
Health Canada has approved the Moderna vaccine for youth between the ages of 12-17.
The vaccine was previously only authorized for people 18 years of age or older. In a tweet, Health Canada says they have done the research and the vaccine is safe for youth.
"After a thorough and independent scientific review of the evidence, Health Canada has determined that the vaccine is safe and effective at preventing COVID-19 in youth aged 12 to 17. Health Canada and PHAC. Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada will continue to closely monitor the safety of this vaccine, and will take action if any safety concerns are identified."
