The Board of Health at Southwestern Public Health has made the decision to move operations in Woodstock.
OXFORD COUNTY - A move will be happening for Southwestern Public Health.
The Board of Health has decided to relocate its multi-building Woodstock operations to 712 Peel Street to serve Oxford County and surrounding regions from a single-site model. SWPH will occupy approximately half of the building. Chair of the SWPH Board of Health, Bernia Martin, speaks to why this was decided.
"This central site offers an efficient use of existing public sector space that is currently underused. It keeps public health services local, with a more practical approach to delivering those services to our clients."
The process began in 2023 when the Board of Health formed a Special Building Ad Hoc Committee, which was to explore options that would bring the services to one location, whether that be through new construction, leased space, or other available development properties. 712 Peel Street was chosen based on its location, functionality, and value.
Renovations will begin this fall, with an anticipated completion in late summer 2027. Updates regarding the project will be shared with the public on the Southwestern Public Health website.
