Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM the future is very bright for Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - The Mayor of Woodstock is getting very excited about the potential of new jobs coming to the Friendly City.
Trevor Birtch tells Heart FM the future is very bright for Woodstock.
"We have a meeting coming up on June 29th where we will be discussing the potential of a boundary adjustment with Norwich Township. We would anticipate that this would provide opportunities for new developments for both industry and commercial purposes and there have been many rumours of interested parties and we are excited about being able to provide those opportunities here for not just Woodstock, Norwich, all of Oxford County but our entire region."
Birtch says a number of major employers are expressing interest in the Friendly City. The catch is Woodstock and Norwich Township need to act fast to annex over 1400 acres of Norwich Township, south of the Toyota plant.
A public meeting has been set to discuss the boundary changes on June 29th at the Oxford Centre Hall in Norwich Township from 6 to 8 p.m.
Birtch wouldn't comment on how many potential jobs would be created if the annex is approved, however a report out of CTV London the number approaches 1000.
