The Township of Blandford-Blenheim will be hosting a mandatory information night for those interested in joining the local fire department this Tuesday at the Drumbo Station.
BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM - The Blandford-Blenheim Fire Department is looking to hire more volunteer firefighters.
They have openings for their stations in Bright, Drumbo, Plattsville and Princeton.
The department will be hosting a mandatory information night at the Drumbo Station this Tuesday night so aspiring firefighters can learn more about what the job entails. If you have a spouse, Director of Protective Services Rick Richardson says you should bring them with you.
"We want to make sure that the spouses understand too, how many hours their spouse will be away doing courses and maybe at calls and we also want them to understand the type of calls they are going to attend."
Being a volunteer firefighter is paid position and you will be expected to be on call at strange hours to help assist with calls. Training will be provided.
The information night will begin at 7:00 p.m. and they will have job applications available.
