For the 2nd time from July 3rd-5th the Ingersoll Arena will be full of various competitions
INGERSOLL - Ingersoll Fire services is gearing up to host the Regional Qualifiers for the Scott FireFit Championships.
Firefighters from across Ontario will be coming to Ingersoll to compete in a variety of events on July 3,4 and 5th at the Ingersoll Arena. Captain Ryan Baker tells Heart FM about some of the competitions that will be happening. "They will bring a tower in on a big flatbed transport truck, the firefighters will have to climb 40 feet carrying a hose bundled wearing firefighter equipment, at the top of the tower they have to do a hose pull, where they literally pull a hose bundle up the tower, they come back down and do a forcible entry simulator, a hose drag where they drag 75 feet of charged hose line and they finish off with a dummy drag where they have to drag 175 pound dummy a 100 feet down the course to the finish."
Baker says it promises to be quite the spectacle and they will have a spot in the National Championships on the line. They are looking for volunteers to lend a hand with the takedown and set up of all the events. The Friday night will feature the Corporate Sponsors running the obstacle course in a relay. Then the individual and team events will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m to 3 p.m on both days. It's free for the public and is a family friendly event. This is the second time Ingersoll has hosted the Scott's FireFit Championships.
Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Captain Baker at rbaker@ingersoll.ca or 519-485-3910.
