It was a spur-of-the-moment purchase, which turned into $75,000 for an Ingersoll man.
INGERSOLL - An Ingersoll man has 75-thousand reasons to smile.
Desmond L. has taken home the top prize after playing the Instant Galaxy Cash Multiplier. He got the ticket after stopping to get gas, and said that when he checked the ticket, he wasn't sure if he was reading the screen correctly at first.
Desmond says he used the OLG app to check his ticket.
"It took a few seconds for it to really sink in. I remember staring at the screen and saying to myself, ‘Hold up… am I reading this correctly?’ I had just finished a long day at work, so part of me thought my tired eyes were playing tricks on me! My mind was all over the place."
He also said he told his wife, who was at work at the time.
"She wasn’t answering her phone, but I kept texting her because I couldn’t hold it in any longer. Every minute felt like forever as I waited for her to see my messages. When she finally took a break and looked at her phone, she called me, practically shouting with joy, and asked, ‘Are you sure?’ I could barely get words out. We were both in complete shock!"
He plans on using the money to pay some bills, invest, and take a trip to Europe to visit family. The winning ticket was sold at the Mobil Gas Station on Whiting Street in Ingersoll.
