It was Deputy Warden Bernia Martin answering the questions on the Heart FM Morning Show today.
OXFORD COUNTY - Safety of County staff was a talking point during the County Council meeting.
Yesterday, councillors were presented with a report from Oro-Medonte regarding incidents that have taken place against workers. Deputy Warden Bernia Martin says Oxford County is no different.
"We have really seen an increase in bad behaviour, bullying, and harassment. You know, we see it online, and that's one thing, but when it starts to happen in person, there were examples of people climbing onto actual snowplows to yell and scream at the driver."
Martin adds it is up to Council to advocate on behalf of the workers to the province for stronger legislation in order to keep them safe. Council was also presented with a framework by staff that outlines a starting point for the plan. Martin says this will not happen overnight.
"It's going to take just over 2 years to update the official plan. There's a lot of consultation with a lot of different groups. And so, there wasn't a lot to debate in this report, but it really was here's how we're going to do this."
Martin mentions the Official Plan is what Council uses to determine what project they are going to do, and where each of them will be. If you would like to hear the other topics discussed during Martin's time on the Heart FM Morning Show, you can listen below.
