It's a partnership between the Upper Thames Brewing Company, Heart FM, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County.
WOODSTOCK - Heart FM has joined forces with the Upper Thames Brewing Company to celebrate a couple of milestones and support a local cause at the same time.
Heart FM has been on the air for 20 years now, and the Upper Thames Brewing Company is also celebrating it's 10th anniversary this year. Upper Thames has launched a special edition beverage to mark this occasion, called the Heartbeat Lager.
President and Co-founder Carl Bloomfield says a lot of thought was put into this drink.
"It's light and enjoyable so you can easily have it responsibly when you're out barbequing or at a family function. Enjoying responsibly is a big part of it for us, and we also thought it was a nice way to kick off the summer."
Upper Thames is also going to donate 40 cents from each can sold to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County (BBBS Oxford). Liz Wismer-Van Meer, the Manager of Communications for BBBS Oxford, says the funds raised will support youth mentorship programs in our community.
"Whether it's one-to-one mentoring programs or group programming, this allows us to keep that barrier low of no cost so the young people and their families and caregivers don't have to worry about any registration fees or participation fees which is really important for us."
The Heartbeat Lager is available at the Upper Thames Brewing Company and Brickhouse Brewpub in Woodstock.
