WOODSTOCK - Maryn Danielle Schafer was the first baby born at the Woodstock Hospital in 2021.
She was born at 5:35 a.m on Friday January 1st to her proud parents Alainna and Stephen Schafer.
Alainna says her due date was January 3rd, so she arrived a few days early.
"At the very beginning we've been joking around that we hope our baby makes it to 2021 and out of 2020, what a crazy year that was, but then I went into labour on December 31st so it was really flirting with that line. Luckily obviously she made it after midnight."
She says it was an experience they will never forget, especially because it's their first child.
"I really had no idea what to expect and I don't think anything anyone tells you or any book you read can really prepare you for what the experience really is. But all of that labour and hard work was definitely worth it, she's beautiful and we're so in love with her."
Maryn weighed 7 pounds 8 ounces and she's named after Alainna's grandmother Maria.
Alainna works as a nurse at the Tillsonburg hospital and her husband Stephen is an engineer.
