K-9 Unit Brought in to Track Down a Suspect Near Woodstock Last Night

Police say they found a loaded gun in a vehicle, after stopping a car for speeding on the 401 last night. The driver took off on foot and the K-9 unit was brought in to track them down.

WOODSTOCK - Oxford OPP had to bring in the K-9 unit after pulling over a car for speeding on the 401 just outside of Woodstock last night. 

During the stop, the driver took off on foot, crossing three lanes of the highway. Police say they found a loaded gun in the vehicle. 

The canine unit was called in and they were able to track down the suspect a short while later. 26 year old Donte Anthony Mootoosamy of Caledon was arrested on the following charges. 

- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon,
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm,
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition,
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition,
- Occupant or motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm,
- Escape lawful custody,
- Speeding,
- Drive motor vehicle- no licence,
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available,
- Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, and
- Fail to comply with undertaking.

The passenger in the vehicle, 23 year old Raheem Ce'Andray Forbes of Essa Township was also arrested on the following charges: 

- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon,
- Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm,
- Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition,
- Careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, and
- Occupant or motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Woodstock at a later date.
