Kids Du will be taking place on the morning of June 19th at Southside Park in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Triathlon Club is putting on a special event to promote healthy, active lifestyles to kids.
Terri Jenkin from the Woodstock Triathlon Club says kids will be running and biking, without all the added pressure of competition.
"The focus is really on having fun - getting kids participating in multisport. It's something they do every day - running and biking. And it's putting it together in an event so they can have fun and enjoy it without the pressure of winning."
All abilities are welcome according to Jenkin.
"As for bikes it doesn't matter whether it's two wheels, three wheels, four wheels. So it could be a tricycle, a bike with training wheels, we're also encouraging participation for kids with disabilities so it could be a wheelchair also."
Because the focus is on healthy lifestyles, even the snacks after the race will be healthy alternatives provided by Your Farm Market:
"They are providing things like carrots and apples and cucumbers and whatever healthy things they have growing in their greenhouses at the moment," Jenkin says. "And they're providing the snacks at the end and water from Zehrs and milk from Gay Lea. So we're keeping things active, and healthy as a lifestyle."
The event is on June 19th at Southside Park starting at 9 a.m.
