The Kiwanis Club of Ingersoll has donated $4,000 to the Oxford County Library Mobile Outreach Vehicle.

INGERSOLL - The Kiwanis Club of Ingersoll has donated $4,000 to the Oxford County Library Mobile Outreach Vehicle.

The vehicle is like a library on wheels and it will be circulating to different events across the County this summer. CEO Chief Librarian Lisa Miettinen says they are really grateful for the donation.

"So the $4,000 sponsorship of the project from the Kiwanis Club will allow us to increase the number of visits we will be able to make in Ingersoll over the course of the pilot project."

Miettinen says the Kiwanis Club has been a great supporter and partner with Oxford County Library over the years.

"A huge thanks, they have been a big support of the Ingersoll library over the years and this is just a wonderful gift and we really look forward to sharing with them, some of the outcomes of the project this fall."

The mobile outreach vehicle will offer computer access and free online resources; workshops and demonstrations, like robotics and e-learning; and, of course, books. It has already started rolling out to fairs and festivals, parks, pools, seniors’ residences and other locations this summer.  The pilot project will test the feasibility and interest in bringing Oxford County Library’s many resources to people who cannot always access their local library, for instance, because of a lack of transportation options or the ability to visit during regular operating hours.
