Hundreds of thousands of people across Ontario laced up their running shoes in support of the Terry Fox Run yesterday. Woodstock was one of the twelve participating run locations in the province. The city's Mayor Pat Sobeski says it's very much a community event, "you look around, it's not competitive runners you see here; it's families you see. Terry Fox, his mother Betty, would probably be quite happy to see that the tradition carried on with family participation". One of the participants, Mark said it's the least we can do to support cancer research, "I just think it's amazing that he ran on one leg every day, ran a full marathon so I think it's not asking too much for people to come out and run for one day, for it, for such a great cause". Yesterday's event in Woodstock had 214 participants and raised $15,586 for the Terry Fox Foundation.
