Langton Minor Hockey and the Langton Skating Club received quite the Christmas gift from Maricann
LANGTON - Langton Minor Hockey and the Langton Skating Club received quite the Christmas gift from Maricann
The two organizations received a generous donation of $35,750 from the medicinal cannabis company.
Minor Hockey President Mike Gubesch explains how this all came about.
"Maricann was interested in donating some money to a local cause, they are located very close to Langton and they thought they'd like to keep their donation in the general vicinity. Charlie Luke (Norfolk Mayor) was kind enough to point them in our direction, we had a very kind meeting with them and out of the blue a very sizeable donation came our way."
Gubesch says the two organizations will be sharing the money.
"The two associations - which work very closely together I might add - are going to get half and half, I guess 50 percent each. Discussions will take place with both boards to decide how that money is going to be utilized."
The Minor Hockey Club has a program called Let's Play Langton, which offers reduced rates for first time players. It's very similar to the Let's Skate Langton program offered by the Skating Club.
Gubesch says they will consider sharing some of the funds with other local sports organizations, including Langton Minor Soccer and Langton Minor Baseball.
