Lion Returns

The Ingersoll Lions return the lion to it's post following two years of renovations to their building

The newly refinished Ingersoll Lions Club lion is back atop their building.

The lion was removed two years ago as the club began work on several much needed renovations thanks to an Ontario Trillium Fund grant.

President Mary Ann Ward outlines the renovations completed by the club.

"We put a new roof on and you can see the blue trim all around the building as been done. We did some of the cement work and the sidewalk and around the back, fixed it up and downstairs we are redoing the whole meet room. It was getting pretty sad looking so it's kind of nice to do that because we don't use public funds to do that."

Saturday the lion returned to the roof in Ingersoll and President Mary Ann Ward says it is a very important symbol.

"To the club and to the town it's a sign that this is where we are. This is us. '72 the lion went up, so it's been up there 40 years. People go by or people come to visit, other clubs come to visit and they look for the lion because that's our building."

Ward says the renovations were possible due to a Trillium grant for more than 60 thousand dollars.
