There's still time to donate to the 5th annual We Scare Hunger campaign at Winchester Street Public School.
WOODSTOCK - Winchester Street Public School has collected over 700 donations for their We Scare Hunger Campaign so far this month.
Staff and students have been collecting non-perishable food items and toiletries for Domestic Abuse Services Oxford.
Grade 8 Teacher Heather Reid is very happy with the campaigns success so far.
"This is our 5th year of doing We Scare Hunger and our 3rd year supporting DASO and we have not had this outpouring of support from the community this early on in the campaign. Our big event is usually our student dance and to already have over 700 items before that even happens is fantastic!"
Reid says they're encouraging their students to collect more donations on Halloween night.
"If you live in the Winchester Street Public School area, if you could be prepared on Halloween night with a few boxes of Kraft Dinner or some canned good items you have around your house if our students arrive trick or treating."
Dawn Ellis teaches a Grade 3/4 class at the elementary school. She says members of the public are also welcome to drop their donations off themselves.
"If people from the community are in the neighbourhood and want to drop off items, we have three tables set up in our front foyer and they are welcome to bring them in and drop off their items at the table."
The campaign will wrap up on Wednesday October 31st.
