The election for Ingersoll Town Council continues to heat up as 13 candidates are still hoping to secure a spot.
INGERSOLL - Ingersoll Town Council has a lot of good candidates looking for your vote in the election this fall.
Cathy Mott is running for one of the councillor positions.
Born and raised in Ingersoll her family has been active in the town for some time. She is no stranger to municipal politics, after she filled an Ingersoll councillor seat from 2010 to 2014.
The proposed landfill was first brought up in Motts first council term. She's hoping to wrap it up once and for all.
"I've been involved in fighting the dump as a citizen. Since then, through many ways like working with Coalition for Social Justice, the letter writing campaign and the protests."
She also would like to help seniors find affordable housing.
"We have to work with our developers, county and landlords who want to put granny flats in. I think we can encourage them to build them in town to help."
Mott adds long term care is another issue that needs to be addressed.
"It's unfair, cruel. As a town we need to start advocating to the county, province and start getting more involved in this."
