Woodstock's Roller Derby Misfits will be hosting a family fun skate this afternoon and a roller derby bout tonight.
WOODSTOCK - It's time to break out those roller skates and roller blades.
The Roller Derby Misfits will be hosting a family fun skate at the Oxford Auditorium today from 1pm until 4pm.
Admission is only $5 for an adult or $3 for a child. They'll also have rental skates on hand for $5 each.
Club President Dianna Vercaecke says this classic family outing has come back in high demand.
"I do feel like our community is really wanting to bring back roller skating. We've have a lot of requests from a lot of different people, so we're really hoping we can get a good turnout."
The Misfits will also lace up for a roller derby bout at 7pm this evening. The doors will open at 6:30pm and admission will be free.
Vercaecke says it's a great opportunity to discover what the sport is all about.
"I know a lot of people ask if roller derby is a family friendly event and it absolutely is! All of our skaters bring their kids and we try to make it a family affair."
The Roller Derby Misfits play in a women's only league. All of their players are over the age of 18.
