5 or 6 new AED units will be purchased with the help of a huge donation from the Oxford County Junior Farmers
EMBRO - The memory of 15 year old Andrew Stoddart will live on this weekend in Embro.
After collapsing on a soccer field in May, Stoddart could not be revived and the family began a foundation in his memory. The goal is to place an AED unit at every playing field in the Province. Andrew's uncle Ron Funnell says a local group in making a very large donation to the cause. "We were recently contacted by the Oxford County Junior Farmers and their group has made a decision that they would like to make a substantial donation to Andrew's Legacy in the amount of $10 000. The result of a donation of this size is that we will actually be in a position to purchase 5 or 6 AED units."
Funnell has been overwhelmed by the support they have received from the county. "This initiative has been absolutely overwhelming to see how these community groups have come together to help this cause, and then subsequently some other community groups such as the Oxford County Junior Farmers. We are incredibly grateful and very humbled that the Oxford Junior Farmers have selected Andrew's Legacy to make their donation this year."
Funnel is hoping to see a large crowd for the presentation this weekend. "The folks from the Oxford County Junior Farmers will be there to make the $10 000 donation presentation to friends and family of Andrew. We are looking forward to seeing as many people from the public come out on Saturday, this is a very significant donation that has been made to the initiative, and we are looking for the community to applaud that."
