The Norwich Merchants and many more are mourning the sudden loss of Gary Grahn Jr.
MISSISSAUGA - A tragic loss in the local junior hockey world.
The Norwich Merchants, along with family and friends, are mourning the loss of Gary Grahn Jr. after his sudden passing. Grahn began his junior career playing in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League with the Caledon Bombers during the 2022-23 season. He then played Junior C in the Provincial Junior Hockey League with the Norwich Merchants and Streetsville Derbys.
Grahn played the 2023-24 season with the Merchants and scored a hat trick in his first game with the club. He started the current season (2024-25) with Norwich before being traded to the Streetsville Derbys in January.
His time with the Merchants saw him score 34 points in 46 games, and in his one year with Norwich in the playoffs, he had 11 points in 12 games. Grahn played 6 regular season games with the Derbys this season and tallied 4 points while adding 3 points in 5 playoff games.
Grahn would have turned 20 this July. The Merchants would like to express their deepest condolences to the family, friends, and Streetsville Derbys during this tough time.
