TORONTO - A delegation of Oxford County Councillors and the Warden had a positive meeting regarding the Regional Review in Toronto.
The delegation included Warden and Norwich Township Mayor Larry Martin, Woodstock Mayor Trevor Birtch, Zorra Township Mayor Marcus Ryan, Tillsonburg Mayor Stephen Molnar and Blandford-Blenheim Mayor Mark Peterson.
They were in Toronto to meet with local MPP Ernie Hardeman and the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steven Clark.
Warden Larry Martin says it was a positive meeting.
"They did say they wanted us to carry on with our service delivery that we were already doing anyway's. They also said that there is no preconceived notion as to how this should turn out and they are not going to offer up any explanation until they get the results on the Regional Review from the two gentlemen that are doing it. So we took that away as a positive that a decision hasn't been made yet."
Martin says they had a great conversation about the meeting on the ride home with all the Councillors as well.
"It went fairly well, we had a two and half hour ride on the way home and we had plenty of time to talk. We were all under the opinion that it was a positive meeting, there are some timelines that we weren't too sure of originally and how long we were going to have and that was kind of ironed out for us. Like I said it was a positive meeting, we are going to work with the Province and it looks like they are going to work with us as well."
Martin says they did not offer any timelines as to when the Review will be completed.
