April is Sikh Heritage Month and a special kickoff celebration will be taking place in Woodstock's Museum Square this Saturday.
OXFORD COUNTY - Sikh Heritage Month is fast approaching in Oxford County.
On Saturday join the United Sikhs as they kick off heritage month with the Woodstock Museum. Community Outreach Coordinator Jaspreet Sandhu explains who United Sikhs are.
"They are actually United Nation affiliated. They are in 17 countries worldwide, with Canada being one of their chapters."
The Woodstock Museum's "Sikhs in Canada" exhibit will continue to be on display throughout the month and will be a highlight of kick-off day.
Sandhu says the day will be packed full of events and learning opportunities for attendees.
"We're going to have a proclamation announcement, there's going to be discussions and speeches. We're going to talk about youth leadership and getting youth involved in the community and of course community empowerment."
She adds they will also have snacks and refreshments.
They are still looking for educators and volunteers. If you want to participate as a volunteer email Jaspreet at jaspreetksandhu@outlook.ca.
