OTTAWA - Prime Minister Stephen Harper is said to be safe and secure following a shooting inside the halls of Parliament.
Parliament Hill is under lock down after a soldier standing guard at the National War Memorial was shot this morning.
Police in Ottawa are saying they got a call around 9:52 this morning about an unknown gunman.
Treasury Board president Tony Clement tweeted that at least 30 shots were fired as M-Ps were in their caucus meetings.
There are unconfirmed reports that the gunman has been shot and killed.
Heavily armed soldiers are patrolling the area.
Local MP Dave MacKenzie's office has confirmed Dave was at Parliament Hill this morning but is safe and secure.
UPDATE - The solider has now been identified as 24 year old Corporal Nathan Cirillo based out of Hamilton.
