New Fitness Club Coming

The "express circuit" inside Ottawa's Merivale Fit4Less location.

GoodLife Founder and CEO David Patchell-Evans says the company's largest Fit4Less location to date will open up in the Friendly City later this year.

WOODSTOCK -- GoodLife Fitness announced this week that it will be opening a state-of-the-art Fit4Less Club in Woodstock by fall 2014.

GoodLife Founder and CEO David Patchell-Evans says the Woodstock Club will be GoodLife's 12th -- and largest Fit4Less Club to-date, offering more square footage.

Currently, GoodLife has two complete experience clubs in the Woodstock area, a For Women Club located at 677 Dundas Street and a Co-Ed Club in the Quality Inn & Suites on Bruin Boulevard.

Woodstock-based, construction management company, Trigon Construction Management will be leading the building and development of the new Woodstock Fit4Less, which is set to open by early fall.

"Trigon is our contractor of choice, and it's great because they happen to be based in Woodstock, so it will get built fast because they don't have to travel anywhere," joked Patchell-Evans.

"Patch" as he's also known, says while Fit4Less may not offer all of the amenities of a GoodLife location, he adds the low cost, (from $10 per month), for a high quality club will make fitness more affordable to everyone.

He says the number one reason people give for why they won't join a health club is cost, but it's not the real reason.

"So people will say cost is a factor, but the real factor is nervousness.  If they've never been into one, they kind of go, -- 'Well, I'm kind of a little scared to go there.'"

The average Fit4Less location is about 10,000 to 12,000 square feet, but Patch adds the planned Woodstock location will be significantly larger, saying the company's design plans for a 15,000 to 25,000 square foot club in a location yet to be named.  He says there's currently two locations in mind, but for the sake of the building process could not reveal which areas specifically in the city are currently under consideration.

"We have a preferred location, but if for some reason it doesn't work out, the second location is ninety per cent as good as the first one we're looking at."

Woodstock-based, construction management company, Trigon Construction Management will be leading the building and development of the new Woodstock Fit4Less.

The announcement for the Fit4Less location should be made official in the coming weeks.
