Dr. Joyce Lock will be new Medical Officer of Health for the Oxford Elgin, St. Thomas Health Unit when the merger is finalized in May.
WOODSTOCK - A Medical Officer of Health has been named for the new Oxford, Elgin St. Thomas Health Unit.
Dr. Joyce Lock will take on the role when the health unit merger is finalized on May 1st. Lock explains her role with the new health unit.
"The Health Units, there is role is to keep the population and make it as healthy as it can be and my role as Medical Officer of Health is to provide oversight to that job. I provide expert consultation to all of the staff to be sure that we protect health and promote health.
Dr. Lock will provide expert consultation to all of the staff and her first challenge will be to get to know everyone.
"I work very closely with the staff to achieve our goals, so my first challenge will be to get to know the staff and their roles at the Oxford side of things. Although many public health issues are similar across the two health units, there will be some unique aspects to promoting within this community and I will need to get to know what those are how best to address those in conjunction with the staff who are currently working with Oxford County Public Health."
