OPP are continuing to investigate after an 80 year old Innerkip woman was murdered 30 years ago.
INNERKIP - OPP have released composite sketches of a suspect in an Innerkip murder investigation that dates back 30 years.
The body of 80 year old Thera Dieleman was found in her home on Oxford Road 29 in Blandford Blenheim Township on September 16th 1988.
A post mortem revealed that she had been beaten and strangled, but could have possibly injured her attacker while putting up a fight.
Superintendent Catherine Yeandle-Slater addressed the media at in a press conference earlier today.
"Our shared goal is to find out what happened to Thera Dieleman in her own home 30 years ago, to locate the culprits and if we are able, to find out why an 80 year old widow came to such a violent end."
In a press release, Detective Superintendent Ken Leppert says they were able to release composite sketches, thanks new technology.
"We believe using existing DNA evidence in this innovative way will ignite memories to help us bring a resolution to Thera Dieleman's family and her community. We urge everyone to look closely at the sketches and photos and bring information on any aspect of this murder forward for investigation."
One image shows what the suspect may have looked at the time of the murder, while the other is what he could look like today.
Police say the suspect was driving a red flatbed farm truck that was described having white lettering on the doors, dual rear wheels and a black headboard protector behind the cab.
