You may experience a few traffic headaches in the Parkinson Road and Ferguson Drive area of Woodstock this summer thanks to major road construction project in the area.
WOODSTOCK - A new pedestrian crosswalk is being added to Parkinson Road at Ferguson Drive heading into Southside Park.
The crosswalk is part of some major construction on the road that will begin in June. Manager of Transportation and Waste Management Services Frank Gross says a section of Parkinson Road will be reduced to one lane during construction.
"The larger construction project will include a bridge rehab to the bridge that crosses Cedar Creek and construction of a new westbound turn lane going onto Ferguson Drive."
The construction is expected to be done by September. Gross says the pedestrian crosswalk was needed after the County did a traffic study in the area.
"It is a controlled pedestrian crossing on Parkinson Road at Ferguson Drive where in enters into the park at the south entrance at Southside Park. It will be a curb mount signs with flashing lights that will be pedestrian activated through a push button."
When the lights are flashing, motorists will be legally required to stop, to allow the pedestrians to cross.
