Victorian style streetlights will light up downtown Tillsonburg.
TILLSONBURG - Downtown Tillsonburg will be getting new streetlights.
BIA chair Kim Miggens says 70 new Victorian heritage streetlights will be added to downtown.
"Best scenario would be to have the poles and the lights replaced, but the poles don't need replacing right now"
This project has been on the BIA's bucket list for more than 15 years.
Miggens says the original plan was to have all the lights done in time for the Santa Claus Parade.
"We hope to have at least the parade route, Broadway and some of the others. The whole BIA won't necessarily be converted but the parade route will be changed in time for the parade."
In November 2017, the Town approved a plan to change the streetlights to LED, and working alongside the Tillsonburg BIA.
It was at the June 27th BIA meeting that the new, Victorian style lights were selected.
