New Trans Canada Trail Extension in Oxford

Sunday, 25 June 2017 at 08:49

A new Trans Canada Trail extension will act as a missing link between Tillsonburg and Delhi.

TILLSONBURG - Oxford County is getting ready to open a brand new portion of the Trans Canada Trail.

The trail extension will act as a missing link between Tillsonburg and Delhi.

Supervisor of Engineering Services Frank Gross tells Heart FM about the new extension which will make its debut Thursday morning.

"It's a 17km off road rail trail on a former railway corridor where it goes on road into Norfolk County and then to Delhi where it connects to an existing rail trail."

Gross says those who attend the grand opening ceremony will receive everything they need before the venture out on the trail.

"We have some reusable water bottles, Public Health has some tick removers and then we have some tourism information, trail maps, stickers and things like that."

The grand opening will take place on Tillson Ave just south of North Street. The ceremony will get underway at 10am with a ribbon cutting and speeches from local dignitaries. They will also recognize grant funding they received from Trans Canada.
