The SIU has found no reasonable grounds to charge an Oxford OPP officer after a police SUV collided with a motorcycle in Tillsonburg on June 26th.
TILLSONBURG - The Special Investigations Unit will not be charging an Oxford OPP officer after a crash in Tillsonburg.
A marked OPP SUV collided with a motorcycle on Lisgar Ave, west of Van Norman Drive, on June 26th this year.
The SIU says the police vehicle was traveling eastbound at the time when the westbound motorcycle entered his lane and crashed into his vehicle. A 36-year-old man was thrown off the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries including a fractured skull, pelvis, and ankle.
Director Joseph Martino says the SIU has found no evidence that suggests the officer did anything that caused or contributed to the crash.
The Special Investigations Unit is called in whenever there is an incident with police that results in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or discharge of a firearm.
