NORWICH - An alert resident in Norwich is being credited with helping to stop a Break and Enter in progress.
The person called Oxford OPP on Thursday night after they spotted a man breaking into a home on North Court Street.
Police were able to respond within minutes and arrested the suspect at the scene.
31 year old Gordon Eric Dykstra of Norwich has been charged with break and enter, possession of break in instruments and fail to comply with recognizance.
Officers from Oxford County including the Oxford County street crimes unit, Norfolk County, and the West Region Canine Unit all responded to assist with the break and enter in progress.
The OPP is asking residents to be vigilant in recognizing suspicious people or vehicles around empty residences and if you see something happening in your neighbourhood to give the police a call.
