A nomination has come forward to try to claim the Ward 4 seat in Norwich Township in the upcoming municipal election.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - A well-known name in Norwich politics is once again running.
Karl Toews is currently the Ward 1 councillor, but will be running for the Ward 4 seat in the upcoming election. Toews says what he would like to do if elected.
"And I wanted to do my part to try and effect change. And I found the most effective way to do that is in municipal politics. And that's why I ran in 2022 and 2024, and that's why I'm running now."
His 2022 political run was for the Ontario Party in the provincial election. Toews says what he thinks makes up a good council table.
"Ideally, you want to have a mix of people on council, you know. Certainly, in Norwich, it's good to have a farmer on council. It's good to have a businessman on council. And I think it's not a bad thing to have a lawyer on council."
Toews mentions that those people are currently on council, and he is a lawyer, which can help with the legal aspects of any decisions made by council.
Residents will make their way to the polls to cast their ballots on Monday, October 26, 2026.
