The Oxford County Federation of Agriculture and Tourism Oxford are teaming up to encourage everyone to buy local.
The Oxford County Federation of Agriculture and Tourism Oxford are teaming up to promote fresh, healthy, and local food.
Oxford Fresh will be unveiling 'Buy Local: the Oxford County Guide to Farms, Food & Local Fare'. Communications Administrator with the OCFA Amy Matheson says they are going to be distributing some of the new maps they will be handing out all across Oxford. "The map is very comprehensive. So we have categories - cheese and dairy is a category, we have meat and fish, fruits and vegetables is one, along with farm markets and retailers. So not just the community farmers' markets like the Woodstock Farmers' market and the downtown one, we have retailers like Sundown Farms and Dickles Orchards."
The maps will also take you to the different roadside stands in the County, specialty shops, and vendors who promote and sell local products. Matheson says the map has 70 sites on it and they hope to have even more signed up next year.
The public is invited to stop by and check it out at the Ontario Federation Agriculture Pavilion at Canada's Outdoor Park just Outside of Woodstock on Friday starting at 11 a.m. Along with the map they will be unveiling the brand new Oxford Fresh logo and you will have chance to meet some local producers
