Officer Riding 233 KM to Honour Wife's Battle with Cancer

Sgt. Brad Adams plans to ride 233 km throughout Haldimand-Norfolk and Tillsonburg to honour his wife, who is a registered nurse at NGH and her battle with cancer.

SIMCOE - A police officer from Hamilton will be riding past the Norfolk General Hospital this weekend.

Sgt. Brad Adams will ride his horse past the hospital on Saturday. He is married to Shannon Adams, who is a Registered Nurse at the NGH. Shannon was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called acute plasma cell leukemia multiple myeloma shortly before Christmas.

Sgt. Adams is doing this ride to raise awareness about the Match4Shannon campaign. They are hoping to find Shannon a lifesaving stem cell transplant. Over 1,000 people registered as a stem cell donor because of the campaign. Sadly, due to the aggressiveness of Shannon’s cancer, the stem cell transplant treatment is no longer an option for our beloved nurse. However, because of the campaign, Shannon will help many Canadian patients who require lifesaving stem cell transplants every year.

Brad is setting out on his ride today and will ride for 10 days covering over 233 km throughout Haldimand-Norfolk and Tillsonburg. He is doing this ride as a way to honour his wife's hard fought battle with cancer.
