The community has spoken and the Woodstock Hospital has listened. The old hospital lands are being re-zoned from a "Community Facility" to "Low Density Residential." The Hospital's Board of Directors Chair Ed Down says that was the result of a public meeting held last year. "Out of that meeting, it became very clear to us on what the feelings of the neighbourhood were, that it be low density residential. They didn't want to see a high-rise go up on that property. So from that, the Board took direction and worked with our planners to come up with the plans that were presented (Thursday) to Council," said Down. Woodstock Council approved the re-zoning. The recommendation will look for approval from County Council next. Demolition will progress this week as heavy equipment arrives on-site. The land will be up for sale with the hopes it will sell sometime this summer.
