Operation Sharing and Youth For Christ Stay at Victoria Park Community Centre

Operation Sharing and Youth For Christ have entered into a one year lease agreement with the town of Ingersoll

INGERSOLL - Operation Sharing and Youth For Christ will be staying put at the Victoria Park Community Centre in Ingersoll for at least the next year.

Both charity groups have been staying at the centre rent free since December when they had to leave the Carnegie building over health concerns. For the past couple of months they had been trying to find a more permanent solution and were unsuccessful, so they spoke with the town of Ingersoll who agreed to enter into a 1 year lease agreement. With the new agreement the two organizations will pay $500 a month to continue using the VPCC. Coordinator of the Operation Sharing Food for Friends Program Ingersoll Shelley Trafford tells Heart FM they have 400 families who receive food cards from the Ingersoll location and it was important for them to have a place where everyone knew where to go. Trafford adds people have different things going on in their lives and it's also just a place where people can come and talk about what's going on and they can help by locating different services to direct them to.

Operation Sharing Executive Director Stephen Giuliano says, "Another positive from having the site at the Victoria Park Community Centre is they offer subsidized memberships to some of their members and therefore some of the folks who use Food for Friends can possibly take an opportunity to better their health under that roof. So it is a nice tie in, in terms of the services we offer the less fortunate and some of the subsidies the Community Centre offers to promote better health."
