OPP Brief - October 28

In this OPP Brief several people are facing impaired driving charges and officers are searching for a stolen truck.

MIDDLESEX - A man from Thames Centre has been charged with driving while impaired after failing a field sobriety test.

On October 24th OPP officers noticed a car parked on James Road. When police spoke to the occupants of the vehicle they discovered the occupants had marijuana.

The 56 year old man driving failed the standardized field sobriety test and was placed under arrest and taken to a Middlesex OPP detachment for a drug recognition evaluation.

As a result the man has been charged with driving while impaired, failing to comply with conditions of undertaking given by an officer in charge, as well as possession of a schedule II substance under 30 grams.

He will answer to the charges in a London court in November.

 

A man has been charged after failing to remain at the scene of a collision on 19 Line and Road 64 in Oxford County.

Middlesex OPP caught up with the suspect vehicle on the 402 westbound near Wonderland Road on October 25th around 8 p.m.

Officers believed the 23 year old man from Norfolk County had been drinking, placed him under arrest, and took him to a Middlesex County detachment for breath testing. The test revealed he had drank more than twice the legal limit.

The man is now charged with driving while impaired, care or control over 80 mgs, and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He will appear in a London court at a later date.

 

BRANT - The OPP are searching for a truck stolen from West Quarter Townline Road.

Police believe the truck was taken sometime overnight on October 20th.

They are asking for the public's help to locate the blue 2006 Chevrolet Silverado and are asking anyone who may have noticed suspicious people or vehicles in that area to give them a call at 1-888-310-1122. A man from Brantford was arrested and charged after refusing to provide a breath sample to Brant OPP officers.

The police stopped a vehicle on Rest Acres Road on October 20th around 10:30 p.m.

The 37 year old man driving the 2004 Ford F-150 refused to provide a sample and has been charged. He will answer to those charges at a later date and could be facing a fine, jail time, and a driving prohibition.
