If caught driving while impaired it can cost you up to $25,000 and the loss of your licence

That's the message from police as Perth County OPP and Stratford Police launched their Festive Ride campaign on Friday. Inspector Sam Theocaris tells Heart FM they run the R.I.D.E programs all year and explains why they ramp them up during the holiday season.
"Of course it's the festive season, work parties, business parities over Christmas, parties at peoples homes celebrating the time of year and we just want to make sure everyone plans ahead and stays safe. It's that time of year where people are gathering at different locations and indulging and that's fine, we have no issue with that we just want everybody to have a safe and happy Christmas and going into the New
Theocaris says if you plan to drink this holiday season, please make sure you plan ahead and have a safe ride home. He adds if you choose to drink and drive this holiday season you will get caught and it will cost you.
"They say the cost of defending and being charged with impaired driving can be up to $25,000, and money is one thing but you will also have that stigma of being charged with a preventable crime."
